Keith and Val's Falkland Islands

Egg Harbour

Egg Harbour is situated on the west coast of East Falkland in Lafonia. It is a good 2 hour drive and in Summer it is an easy drive. It is far easier now that the road network has been expanded and involves only around 1/2 an hour's camp driving. We explored the coast to the North of Egg Harbour, including a fairly treacherous drive alond a boulder-strewn peninsular. The house is a former shepherd's residence and the stay involves mastering the peat stove and diesel generator.

There is a small, wet ditch within the grounds of the house which caused some competition between the drivers whilst we were there. We nicknamed it "Larry's Ditch" after the first unfortunate bogged driver. The following pictures show some of the less than successful attempts to cross it!
