The BBC 'Ground Force' team visited Stanley during February 2002. They carried out a major development project within the grounds of the King Edward Memorial Hospital as a surprise for Councillor Norma Edwards (who chairs the Health and Medical Services Committee). The visit was conducted under the utmost secrecy in order to maintain the surprise and Norma (who lives in West Falkland) was kept away from Stanley until the garden was ready to be unveiled. The programme was screened in the UK in mid-June 2002 and was shown a few weeks later in the Falkland Islands.
The pictures below were all taken during the last few hours of filming as the crew rushed to put the finishing touches together prior to the guest of honour's arrival. Her reaction can be seen in the last few photographs.
