Sea Lion Island is probably the jewel in the Falkland Island's crown. It is a half-hour flight in a Falkland Islands Government Air Service (FIGAS) 'Islander' aircraft - which is an experience in its own right! The Island is situated about 10 miles south of the southern coast of East Falkland and is regularly visited by passing cruise ships.
The only building on the island is the Lodge which attracts a large number of local and overseas visitors due to the concentration and variety of wildlife. The wildlife varies with the seasons and the breeding cycles of the birds and animals involved. The island is frequently visited by film crews which take advantage of the tameness of the wildlife. This is one trip we will certainly repeat!
