Stanley is the capital of the Falkland Islands. Most of the Islands population live here and the town has most of the facilities you would expect in a far larger town Britain. It is a colourful place characterised by a mixture of both old and new and the 'wriggly-tin' roofs of the houses. The town has grown rapidly in the last twenty years but the essential character has remained. There are several wrecks in and around Stanley harbour; a legacy of the days when Stanley depended on whaling and shipping. The photographs below show some of the landmarks of our town.
