Keith and Val's Falkland Islands

Surf Bay & Gypsy Cove

We frequently visit Surf Bay and Gypsy Cove since they are so close to Stanley (10-15 minutes drive) and there is a huge variety of wildlife. The obvious attraction is the magellanic Penguin colony but there are also logger ducks, oystercatchers, cormorants and many other birds which inhabit the area. Seals and sea-lions also frequent the shores looking for a tasty penguin-sized meal! The beaches and coastlines are some of the most picturesque in the Islands.
