Keith and Val's Falkland Islands

Keith and Val's Wedding Photos!

We were married at 10:00 am on 2 March 2002 at Christ Church Cathedral in Stanley; the southermost cathedral in the world. The cathedral was consecrated in 1892 and was renovated in 1991. 'Whalebone arch' beside the cathedral (made from the jawbones of two Blue Whales) was presented by whalers from South Georgia in 1933. Together, these are probably the most photographed objects in Stanley.

This is a small sample of the many photographs that were taken that day. Altogether we have received around 500 (and there are still more to come!!) Thanks are due to Emma, Linda, Julie, Ian and Dave for those shown below.

We'd like to thank everyone involved in making it such a memorable day for us. Special thanks are due to Donald (our Governor) for giving Val away; David (our Attorney General) for being the best man; Victoria for being our bridesmaid; Ivan for the wedding cake; Emma for the official wedding album; Roger for being cameraman and chauffeur; Theresa, Linda and Jane for helping behind the scenes; and Alex for playing the music in church. The staff at the Malvina House Hotel also provided an excellent wedding reception.

We must also mention several hundred cruise ship passengers who arrived in Stanley that morning to swell the ranks of enthusiastic photographers!
